Transforming the Cultural Landscape

Leadership Development at New Art Exchange, Nottingham

Powerbrokers Leadership Pathways Programme Opportunities, Midlands 2010, May-October

Powerbrokers is pleased invite cultural leaders to attend and benefit from key professional and personal development opportunities during Spring and late Summer this year, hosted at the New Art Exchange.

The Cultural Leadership Programme (CLP) is offering a fantastic range of new professional and personal development opportunities in 2010. Focused support for BAME mid-career leaders has been established in its Powerbrokers Leadership Pathways initiative - created to develop and support individuals working in the wider cultural and creative industries who have reached an important stage in taking the next step in their career progression or in reaching their leadership ambitions.

Whether freelance, independent or within an organisation, opportunities are available now for all cultural practitioners, artists, designers, arts managers, cultural heritage workers, archivists, librarians, and creative industries entrepreneurs.

Select the best option to support your leadership potential from the opportunities listed below or visit the CLP website to see other broad-based options around the UK. Events are free to attend and take place in Nottingham at the New Art Exchange.

The Coaching/Mentoring programme (CMP) is for potential high-flyers within the cultural and creative industries, who are passionate about their work, their practice, focused on achieving their full potential and can illustrate specific advancement in their careers to date. CMP coach/mentors will focus on bringing forward inherent strengths that individuals possess and harness those qualities and skills to seek clarity to gain a deeper engagement with the issues people are facing. It will conclude formally in October.

Action Learning:

"PALS" Programme Peer Leadership Group The "Powerbrokers Action Learning Set" (PALS) programme has been designed to provide a safe environment where up to six mid-career leaders can quickly share journeys, successes, dilemmas or/and to take the time and space to experiment with ideas they may feel uncomfortable divulging within their organisations, to clients or colleagues, within a secure peer support group. PALS members will have access to their team facilitator for additional one-to-one support. Charting the journey is a key feature plus the built-in support for the group to stretch themselves to lead and to encourage the sustainability of the group after the programme closes.

The programme will consist of 5/6 members and all six half-day sessions are to be attended by the group members who commit to provide their peers with reflection time, share experience through open, positive questioning and receive feedback. The first session commences on 24 May 2010.
