Pam Miller, Fine Artist

  • About

I am a practising mid-career artist of thirty one years, with experience of local, national and international exhibitions and workshops. My work is inspired by cliff-top walks (mainly in and around Staithes, North Yorkshire), sunsets/cloud formations, lake reflections, walks around Highfields and Wollaton Park in Nottingham and travels abroad - particularly to The South of France, where my son has a house. My artwork is concerned with the use of metaphor for landscape. Observations of the changing nature of the skies, seas, lakes, flora and fauna has led to a shorthand of markmaking, with a sense of a location. I 'translate' the preliminary studies made on site into a more spontaneous process in my studio (both on a smaller and larger scale) leading to paintings that represent transition in my own life.
